Some of my favorite photography sessions is when we go for a walk and have fun taking photos along the way. And that's exactly what happened for this family and senior session. This family of three drove from Happy Valley down to Salem to meet me at Minto Brown Island Park on a Saturday evening and we had the best time laughing at jokes, goofing off, and exploring some trails.
I really do think telling my (horribly funny) dad jokes and just chatting can really bring out genuine smiles, and of course having fun along the way might help a little bit, too.
I hope you enjoy this family photo session, celebrating their high school senior before she moves to Arizona to attend college. It's always a great idea to take family photos before anyone moves away for school, even if they will be home in the summers.
I love sessions with horses. I love sessions with dogs. I love sessions with newborns. This family session had everything that I love! There's always challenges to some degree, be it the weather or lack of naps, I just always go with the flow.
The first photo is one that I stitched together from two images to create one family photo of everyone (mostly) looking. When I need to, I will do some face swapping to really create a great photo.
But some of the best photos are the ones where no one is looking at the camera, instead, they are looking at each other, laughing, and making memories. I really pride myself in helping my clients prepare for their sessions. I made sure to share with them all of the posts I've created about preparing for a dog, horse, and newborn sessions.
I hope you enjoy seeing the sneak peek from this session. Little Charlotte was exactly one week old and her big sister was two and a half. It was my pleasure to capture this sweet family!
I just thought that this photo session of a daughter and her mother was so special. Their hugs and hand holding was so cute. When there's two people, I really like to have them interact with each other and see what happens while I'm taking photos.
And sometimes when children don't want to look at the camera, bring a toy along that they love for the photographer to hold really helps get their attention for those "look at the camera and smile" photos.
I just love Spring with the trees waking up from their winter sleep, wildflowers showing off their beauty, and the warmer days starting to greet everyone. It's also the perfect time of year for family photos!
This beautiful family traveled all the way from Lincoln City to Salem for a family photo session during my Spring Mini Session and I was so excited to capture all of them.
It's so important to have family photos, especially when you have young children, because they are growing so fast. Even when someone is shy, I do my best to sneak a smile out of them and capture it for the parents. And you can't forget photos of mom and dad together, because one of them are usually the ones who are taking photos of their family.
Talk about a beautiful spring Oregon day! It was absolutely amazing with fresh cut grass, warm sunshine, and fluffy cherry blossoms at the foot of Salem Capitol Building.
This was one of my mini photography packages and even though it was a shorter amount of time, it was perfect for a mother and daughter photo session. And this session was extra special, these will be the last photos of just the two of them, because another little one is coming along this summer!
It was my first time photographing anyone during the spring bloom of cherry trees and it's easy to say that I'm hooked, because all of the photos turned out amazing! During this session, there was lots of admiring all the pretty flowers and even some running around to burn off extra energy, and you know what?!? Running around and spinning in circles make for great pictures for children! I hope you enjoy these photos and if you're thinking of having your photographs taken among these blooming cherry trees in Oregon's capital, I'd love to capture them for you!
The Oregon Coast's weather can be really unpredictable, especially in Spring. Sometimes you just got to pick a date, cross your fingers, and hold your breath for the weather to cooperate. And cooperate is an understatement for this maternity session!
Last summer I had the honor to capture Kassandra and Josh's backyard wedding last summer. And now the two of them are expecting a little girl and I'm just thrilled for them!
I hope you stay awhile. This is where I will talk about my paintings, processes, photography & adventures, post processing, social media, and more.
