What did you do or will you do for your one year wedding anniversary? Many couples will go out to a fancy dinner to celebrate the union of their love, or even do a weekend getaway. And if you do gifts, the traditional present is paper, and the more modern selection is a clock (why? don't ask me, this is what Google has said it is).
I have created special commissioned watercolor paintings for first wedding anniversary presents, bit this is the first time I had the pleasure of photographing the couple in this part of their journey of husband and wife.
Llesenia and Eron met me at the beautiful grounds of Deepwood Estates on a semi-cool evening (remember in Oregon it has been hot lately), so it was quite refreshing. Llesenia even showed off her crafty side by creating a (very Pinterest worthy) wooden sign to use during their session. The wooden heart sign wasn't the only special item she brought; she brought along her wedding shoes!
It’s summer in Oregon and it’s been hot. But that doesn’t hold back lovebirds from getting cute photos for their save the dates, especially when family will be traveling to celebrate their big day with them.
Eventhough is was 93° out, Laura and Kevin’s smiles where only interrupted with kisses. We started our evening at the Broadway Bridge in Portland.
I loved the color of the bridge and even with the heat, Laura and Kevin decided to go with jeans and rolled up long sleeves for their casual look, which is truely their style. And you can’t forget to help your lady down what seemed to be 500 stairs in the heat.
You're in a serious relationship and you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with them. Then comes talk of marriage. The excitement takes over and you're contacting different venues, florists, bakers, caterers, bridal dress shops, DJs, and everyone else you can think of. But once the big day is over, all that will help you remember everything by will be your photographs.
It's very important to choose a wedding photographer who you enjoy their images. Every photographer has their own style and that how they will be capturing your big day. As you're looking through photographers on Facebook or Instagram, don't just look at the photos on their accounts, but also look at their portfolio's on their websites, too. A lot of photographers have their package options listed and some even have a la carte options, and some may include print releases while others only include printed photographs.
Flowers can really brighten up a room and floral crowns can really bring a smile to your face. Last week there was a really fun event at The Shabby Chic Bride in Salem, Oregon which was lead by Sheena with Alice's Table.
Sheena did awesome leading all the ladies in creating their own floral crowns and Jason of Divine Distillers made some tasty mojitos with his own special mix.
Yesterday was Monday, but it was my Saturday. Which meant that it was a perfect day for an adventure! John was wanting to go fishing and I wanted to a new-to-us place. That's when I mentioned Opal Creek and showed him a photo of someone fishing there.
Now, keep in mind that we both had backpacks and were prepared for what we were heading into, especially with our late start for the 8.5 mile hike ... but first an iPhone pic of the real heroes of our day, Kona and Coal.
These two were real troopers. This was our first long hike as a family and the only complaining they did was when the three of us left John on the river to do a little scouting.
Here is part two of Jenna's Senior Photo Session (see part one here). It was the perfect Oregon day, overcast. Clouds filtering the bright sunshine actually is very flattering and you don't have to worry about squinting eyes!
But back to Jenna and our time on the Oregon State University Campus in Corvallis. We started at Furman Hall and ended up at Gill Coliseum, while stopping at Langton Hall and other scenic places along the way.
I hope you stay awhile. This is where I will talk about my paintings, processes, photography & adventures, post processing, social media, and more.
