If I could only photograph little girls and their dogs, I would totally dedicate myself to that! This little girl has had her 9 month old poodle pup for merely a week and a half and you can already tell that she loves him so much. I did some walking around the park, because that's what dogs love, and a lot of puppy snuggling! Plus, I was able to capture a couple solo shots of Otis, the poodle.

Sometimes all you have are just selfies and your high school senior photos, and that's when you know that you need to have some professional photographs taken! That's what I was told when I was taking her photos in Salem at Bush Park with the purple camas flowers. We had a great time, chatting and laughing, during her session, just in cast you can't tell from the photos ;-) And if you've been thinking about having professional photos taken of yourself, I suggest doing it! Make it fun and incorporate something or a place that you love.
If you're every wondering if you should bring your dog to a photo session, my answer is always YES! This dog mom and her basset hound, Walter, are quite the duo. The even participated in my first ever Mini Session Day in November 2019. And if you've ever been around when I photograph animals, you know that I make funny noises to get their attention, but Walter rather eat the grass. Haha. And I just love the last photo in this post ... a regal basset hound in a field of camas flowers. Walter is a ham and he knows it. ;-)
I just thought that this photo session of a daughter and her mother was so special. Their hugs and hand holding was so cute. When there's two people, I really like to have them interact with each other and see what happens while I'm taking photos. And sometimes when children don't want to look at the camera, bring a toy along that they love for the photographer to hold really helps get their attention for those "look at the camera and smile" photos.
This maternity session was part of my Spring Mini Session day this year and I was so happy to be capturing this chapter in her life! She told me that their will be her fourth boy and with all of her other pregnancies, she didn't have any professional photos taken. I knew I wanted to make her feel like a goddess out in a field of flowers. I'm quickly loving maternity sessions, they are a special stage of motherhood and if a mom wants to capture this chapter of their journey, I'm always excited to make it special for her.
I loved everything about this session, from it being a birthday present for the mama from her sisters, to how this little girl stared up at the trees. I believe that every mama needs to have photos with their baby, because this is the only time they will ever be this tiny. This little girl was only 6 weeks old and already holding her head up! Time with your newborn is so precious and I was thrilled to be capturing these moments for this new little family. The camas flowers in this Salem park was the perfect backdrop for this mama and newborn photo session.
