I was contacted last month to create a super special Christmas present.... paintings on feathers! This pair of feathers is for a husband and wife who love their western lifestyle. I was asked to paint teepees with yellow and turquoise for the wife and then the husband was in the 2019 NFR for bareback broncs and this was to be a commemorative piece for him. So, with the request of teepees, yellow, and turquoise, I thought that it would be fun to have a teepee with a campfire under the stars WITH a turquoise squash blossom necklace as the border. It's easy to say that it was a big hit! And then for the husband, I was asked to paint a generic chestnut bronc with his back number of 67 for his ride at the National Rodeo Finals in December in Las Vegas. Both of these feathers were painted with acrylic paint. I primarily paint in watercolors, but I do work in acrylics for special occasions and commissions. And it's easy to say that this was a special occasion and commission!
I think it would be fun to create other commissioned paintings on feathers. If you're interested in having something special made for you, please contact me!
